The arrival of BRAYLEN GENTRY FORDE ~

Congratulations to Ashley & Gentry on the birth of my first grandchild, Braylen, on SEPT 12th, 2009, at 10:08 am. Braylen weighed 7 lbs 12 oz, & was 21 1/2 inches long. 5 hours after he was born he started to turn blue, so they rushed him into the NCIU. He was in extremely low blood sugar, which was below 20. It took them awhile to get him stablized. Once they did, they started to ween him off of the meds, and he went back into low blood sugar again. They again stabilized his sugar level. He also started to turn jaundice, so they had to put him under the billyribbon lamp for the jaundice. He also was ot eating at all and couldn't keep anything down. The final outcome was that Braylen might be completely blind. They had a pediatric eye doctor come and check ou his eyes and said that he has OPTIC NERVE DISPLAYSIA. His optic nerve barely grew at all. Also his adrenal gland is not functioning correctly at all, and he penis barely grew, and he is going to be sterile and will not be able to have children of his own. Due to all of this, Braylen will have to have several shots a day for his whole life. They were told to contact the BRAILE INSTITUTE to get Braylen set up there, and also to contact Social Security as well. Both Ashley & Gentry are going to have to change their way of life for Braylen. They went for their first walk around the block today, and loved it! Ashley says that he is a wonderful baby! Other than that...Braylen is a very good baby, and is loved by many people, including people who dont know him or his parents! He is extremely cute too! ~

Cindy's visit ~

Cindy came to Oregon for a meeting and came to visit with us and Melannie's family while here. We enjoyed having her visit and got to see Jason & his wife Kimmie as well. We went to Silver Falls with Cindy to show her some of the waterfalls. ~

Update on Christina ~

Christina had a CT done and they found a thickening in her large intestines. They dont know what it is from, so they will be doing a colonoscopy and endoscopy on September 29th to check it out and get a biopsy of things. Then we will see where we will go from there. The doctor put Christina on Amitriptaline for her pain. She has lost 5 lbs already, but complains that she still has pain some times. Her weight got up to almost 175 lbs. ~
